Margo Reed Margo Reed

Margo Reed

Margo, here. Photographer and videographer specializing in documenting community-centered people.

After completing a contract with the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philly Parks and Recreation, I established my studio to produce engaging content for those I once only photographed from the sidelines.

I pride myself in photographing people who are not typically staged in front of a camera. This includes a surgeon performing a corneal transplant, a historical society preserving a disappearing minority language, and a jazz artist releasing their first album. I work with community-centered people whose stories have not yet made it to national news.

You will never find yourself striking a pose in front of me. When we work together, I place you in your your element of comfort. We will spend a time in pre-production, production, and post-production, working together for anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 years.

My work is inspired by traditional visual and oral storytelling used in news photojournalism, but I utilize modern visual technology in equipment, specifically lighting and post-production.

I've had images featured in People, New York Times, NPPA's News Photographer Magazine, The Associated Press, and the Philadelphia Inquirer, among others. Some of my frequent clients include artists, news, and nonprofit organizations.

I run a woman-owned business. I am first on deck as your lead photographer / videographer at any shoot, but I also utilize a team of talented photo  and video colleagues to step in or assist when needed. More information below.

Margo Reed Studio

Margo Reed Studio is a Philadelphia-based studio providing contemporary photo and video services for community-centered organizations. The studio's work is produced primarily by Margo and a team of contractors who all have formal training and experience in photojournalism.

If you're working for the public good, we want to work for you. Margo Reed offers  photography services and photo / video event coverage, which tell stories about those who are leaving a legacy in their communities.

We work frequently for artists, news, and nonprofit organizations. Using photo and video, we will elevate your story in the news, create your latest marketing campaign, or share your legacy with family.

Your ideas, timeline, ethics, and questions carry weight during consultation and pre-production conversations. I also have a ton of experience taking the reins and developing a visual plan when inspiration hasn't kicked in for you.

Your organization's story is important, and it's our job to craft it.

"Working with Margo is like working with a longtime, trusted friend. She listens carefully and observes quietly. You can count on Margo to illustrate not only the big picture of your photo session, but a handful of creative touches and simply blissful moments along the way."
