Dance Studio Photography and Video for ICON Dance Complex
This dance studio photography and video project highlights ICON Dance Complex, a premier studio graduating professional dancers for over 30 years. In partnership with Stage Step flooring, we photographed and filmed inside their Manalapan, New Jersey studio to create six promotional videos. In addition, we produced over three hundred images for marketing use across both brands.
Dance Studio Photography and Video Approach
I partnered with Stage Step and ICON Dance Complex to capture dynamic, movement-driven imagery for all of their marketing platforms. As a result, the visuals needed to feel modern, energetic, and polished. At the same time, it was important that the dancers felt comfortable and confident throughout the process.
Creating Movement-Focused Dance Studio Photography
The photo and video team included myself, my videographer colleague Aléna, and Stage Step personnel. Together, we created a relaxed and collaborative environment that allowed the dancers to perform naturally.
Working with young dancers still in school required careful time management. For example, we needed to stay on schedule while maintaining high energy and focus. Therefore, we used a flexible lighting setup that allowed us to quickly shift between dynamic solo portraits and light, energetic group shots.
Commercial Video and Photography for Dance Studios
This setup was simple and intentional, which allowed the dancers to remain in their familiar rehearsal space. In addition, a clear and structured pre-production schedule ensured that everyone had enough time, energy, and breaks throughout the shoot.
Ultimately, this dance studio photography and video project delivers a cohesive visual system. It supports both brand storytelling and promotional marketing while highlighting the talent and discipline of the dancers.
