This alumni event photography project documents Drexel University’s Alumni Weekend, capturing moments of reconnection, celebration, and community across campus.
Alumni Weekend brings together graduates from across generations, creating a dynamic environment filled with both planned events and spontaneous interactions. As a result, the goal was to document the experience in a way that felt natural, energetic, and true to the spirit of the university.
Rather than focus only on staged moments, I worked to capture candid interactions between alumni, faculty, and students.
Photographing Reunions and Campus Events
Throughout the weekend, events ranged from formal gatherings to casual social moments. Because of this variety, flexibility was essential.
In addition, capturing genuine emotion—laughter, recognition, and conversation—was key to telling the story of the event. These moments help communicate the lasting connection alumni have with the institution.
Alumni Event Photography for Universities
This assignment required a balance between editorial storytelling and marketing needs. While the images needed to feel authentic, they also needed to support university communications, advancement efforts, and future event promotion. As a result, the final collection includes a range of images that can be used across digital platforms, print materials, and alumni outreach campaigns.
Ultimately, this alumni event photography project highlights the relationships that continue long after graduation. It reflects the role alumni events play in strengthening community and maintaining connection across generations.
