About Margo Reed
I’m Margo Reed, a Pennsylvania-based photographer and visual storyteller creating authentic photography and film for editorial, healthcare, higher education, arts, and mission-driven organizations.
My background is in photojournalism. I began my career at The Philadelphia Inquirer, where I learned to work quickly, pay attention to the details, and recognize meaningful moments as they unfold.
Today, I bring that same curiosity to commercial and editorial assignments—working with real people in real environments to create images that feel honest, human, and connected to a larger story.
My Approach to Visual Storytelling
I’m interested in what exists beyond a person’s role or title.
A performer is more than what happens on stage. A scientist is more than someone working in a laboratory. A student is more than a face in a classroom.
The details surrounding people—their curiosity, personality, relationships, environment, and the way they interact with their work—are often what make a photograph meaningful.
That’s why my approach is rooted in observation rather than simply directing what happens in front of the camera. The goal is to create photographs that feel natural while still serving the larger editorial or marketing story.

Images Built to Last
The result is a catalog of images that can support marketing, editorial, nonprofit, and news efforts not just today, but for years to come.
I’m based in Reading, Pennsylvania, about 50 miles up the Schuylkill River from Philadelphia. I’m also roughly equidistant from Allentown, Lancaster, and Harrisburg.
Please reach out about projects throughout Pennsylvania and the tristate region.
From Pre-Production to Final Images
I bring the same approach to every assignment.
Whether it is a two-hour editorial assignment or a multi-day commercial shoot, every project begins with pre-production. That includes identifying story opportunities, developing a production schedule, and establishing a visual strategy that aligns with the broader narrative goals.
As a result, the production runs more smoothly and I can focus on creating strong, story-driven imagery.
Some clients prefer to be deeply involved throughout the process, while others prefer a more hands-off approach. Either way, my role is to guide the production from concept through execution while making sure the final images feel authentic and thoughtfully crafted.
